Australian Dance Idol Challenge is Back

Young dancers of all ages from across New South Wales once again have the opportunity to shine thanks to the return of Australian Dance Idol Challenge in April 2007.

Based on the popular Australian Idol framework, Australian Dance Idol Challenge, now in its third year, is for young performers aged from 5 to 17.

Given the tender age of the performers, judges focus on encouragement, always giving a constructive critique of each performance to enable entrants to benefit positively from their advice – no humiliation involved in this Idol event.

Judges will be drawn from the entertainment industry, offering invaluable expertise to the dancers, and a professional interest in bringing high-calibre talent into the limelight.

While Australian Dance Idol Challenge is open to amateur performers only, the emphasis is on total professionalism and has been praised in previous years for the polished performances of the finalists.

Belinda Chapple, formerly Bardot winner of Popstars, and one of this year’s Challenge judges, commented: “It is through events like the Australian Dance Idol Challenge that young performers have the opportunity to be judged and encouraged by professionals from the entertainment industry. I am so glad the young up-and-coming performers now have these opportunities and support.”

The competition will showcase hip hop, break dance, rap, modern, ballet, tap and jazz.

Dancers can enter solo, duo/trio or group divisions in one of four age groups: Petite (8 and under), Junior (9-11), Teen (12-14) and Senior (15 and over).

Up to four rounds held during the week-long competition will reveal an overall winner in each group, duo/trio and solo division for each age group – with over $5000 in cash prizes and awards up for grabs.

Presented by the Supertalent Network, entries close 6 April 2007, and the competition takes place from 11-15 April at Sydney Rooty Hill RSL and Resort.
