Distribution Plan
For each story, you should be clear about the audience you want to reach, the message you want to get to them, and the media you would like to interest.
To develop a Distribution Plan for a specific story, our journalist will interview you to identify the audience, message and the strategy for using newspapers, magazines, TV, radio and Internet news sites. At this stage we will also look at what images will be available to support the story. They will then analyse all of the potential outlets that are relevant for this story, and develop a recommended press list. We will then research the contact list for each publication / programme, ensuring details are up to date and relevant.
Your Distribution Plan will include:
- A summary of the objectives of the campaign
- A Press List of selected media publications/programmes, meeting your criteria
- The name and contact details of the most appropriate person to contact for each of the selected publications, along with details such as when to contact them. This may vary depending on whether it is a newspaper, or a magazine with monthly, quarterly or annual issues.
- A summary of why their publication has been selected (demographics) and why the story is relevant for their audience – this is important to have clear when you are talking to them
- Prioritisation of the press list, identifying the top six publications as well as any supplementary recommendations.
- Detailed instructions on how to go about contacting the press list.
